Footage has emerged after three police officers pinned a Melbourne mother to the ground after she reportedly broke lockdown restrictions. ‘
The woman’s daughter filmed on Saturday, when Melbourne was still in stage three coronavirus restrictions, during the incident at Hoppers Crossing in southwest Melbourne.
The video shows the woman crying as the officers on the footpath force her face down and handcuff her arms behind her back.
Her daughter could be heard crying “she is in pain.” A female friend circulated on Facebook the video and images of the woman’s bruised body.
She claimed that when the police approached them they had been standing in public “with a poster about Russian politics” She said both women had a $1652 fine issued for breaching restrictions on coronavirus.
In the video, officers can hear the woman’s daughter being questioned. Instead, a female officer is heard telling her to show her identification.
The daughter insists she does nothing wrong. She says she is going just for a walk.
“You are doing something wrong, you are out in contravention of the COVID restrictions,” the officer says.
