For decades, weatherman Tim Bailey has been a mainstay on the Aussie TV screens, and he’s on our airwaves now.
This week, with 2 GB, the TV icon began its new job, providing weather updates during the regular shows of the network, Ben Fordham Live and Drive with Jim Wilson.
Speaking on Fordham ‘s show, Bailey remembered the moment when, following his “brutal” firing from longtime employer Channel 10, he was offered the new job.

“Twenty minutes after I was sacked … my phone rang, and before I had a chance to fall down a bloke by the name of Benny Fordham picked me up,” Bailey said.
“I am proud, pumped and privileged to be part of the family.”
Bailey said the news he had been axed from the TV role he’d held for 29 years hit him “right between the eyes”.
“A knife through the back and through the heart, it’s the best description of it,” he said.
“I was lost and I was pretty empty for a day or two … lots of people are going through this, and I’m one of the lucky ones that have landed on my feet.”
