Victoria will declare all of Sydney and the NSW Central Coast a COVID-19 “red zone” from midnight tonight, meaning that people who have lived or visited these areas since December 11 will not be able to enter the state.
Anyone who travels from these areas to Victoria will have to compleat the mandatory hotel quarantine for 14 days.
Victorian residents who have recently visited or are currently in Greater Sydney or the Central Coast will have until 11:59 p.m. tomorrow to return home.
“This is a difficult decision, but it is the appropriate decision,” Premier Daniel Andrews said.
