Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews announced that the state’s state of emergency will be extended to September 13 for another four weeks.
Victoria had another devastating day in the past 24 hours with the State reporting 16 COVID-19 deaths and 279 new cases.
Mr Andrews reported that 11 of the 16 deaths had been related to the aged care system in the state.
“These numbers are heading in the right direction, but this is an endurance race, not a sprint,” Mr Andrews said on Sunday.
“While these numbers are positive, we don’t want Victorians to relax.
“We need to be united to get to the other side of this.”
