A Woolworths store in the Macarthur area of Sydney has closed its doors overnight after a COVID-19 staff member tested positive.
A spokesperson for the supermarket confirmed a case telling 7NEWS.com.au that the Woolworths Spring Farm store closed overnight for an “additional deep clean” as a “cautionary measure.
However, the team member last operated on July 16, without recording or showing any symptoms while in service.
After being informed of the case on Saturday, Woolworths is now in the process of making contact with all team members.
“(We) will provide our full support to those self-isolating, in line with the advice from health authorities,” the Woolworths spokesperson said.
The person last worked at the Spring Farm supermarket on July 16, however, did not indicate any symptoms while on duty.
“While the risk of transmission to customers and team members is low, the safety and wellbeing of the local community is our priority,” they said.
“Customers and team members should be assured they can continue to safely shop and work at our Spring Farm store.”
