In the northern suburbs, it has been less than 24 hours since an Adelaide COVID-19 cluster erupted and shelves are already being stripped of toilet paper.
Shoppers at Kilburn Costco say that on Monday morning, 15 pallets of toilet paper were sold, leaving stocks bare.
In response, members have been restricted to one pack per customer.
At Golden Grove Woolworths and Coles Glenelg, empty shelves were found.
In the midst of news that staff members are already being impacted by low stock levels, the retail workers’ union has called for calm.
“We are already hearing reports of panic buying in supermarkets,” SDA Secretary Josh Peak said.
“This is a stressful time for everyone. Retail workers are doing their absolute best to keep stock on the shelves.
“Stay calm, and treat frontline workers with respect.
“We’re all in this together.”
