Schapelle Corby, a convicted drug smuggler, used her prison reputation to sign on to a reality television show deal that would bring her back to the spotlight six years after her release.
The 43-year-old appears on SAS Australia’s action show on Channel 7.
The programme is new to Australian screens, based on a contest of UK action where participants undergo boot camps similar to the experience of the Special Air Service.
The challenges will be host to ex-special forces soldiers. They won’t be told who those celebrities are.
The rugby star Nick Cummins, former iron woman Candice Warner and PR queen Roxy Jacenko are among the other participants at the series.
“We go into the SAS as a number, not a name, which is significant for me because I won’t be Schapelle Corby, I will just be a human being,” Corby said.
“I think I’ll discover that I’m stronger than I am, that I think I am. I’m hoping to discover life and to discover myself.”
