Viewers took to social media last night to express their opinions on Chris Sebastian taking out the crown on The Voice Australia 2020, and the final results do not seem to be appealing to anyone.
Since defeating Stellar Perry, Siala Robson and Johnny Manuel in the grand final, Chris walked away with $100,000 in prize money and a recording deal with EMI Recorded Music Australia.
The victory came as a surprise to many as Chris wasn’t the favourite going into the Channel Nine show’s final season.
And despite the fact that his brother Guy Sebastian was also on the series as a mentor, it didn’t take long for social media to echo calls of ‘rigged’ and ‘unfair.’
“Didn’t see that coming at all,” one viewer posted on Facebook after the final results were revealed.
“It was totally rigged, never watching this again,” another person wrote.
“I stopped watching last week when I found out Chris was in Finals. Foregone conclusion he would win due to his connection,” was another response.
@TheTodayShow Chris Sebastian was the second best singer on The Voice. A clear advantage to have your celebrity brother on the judging panel. What happened to the rules where no one associated with the show were allowed to participate. Johnny was the clear winner.

Plenty of others however defended Chris, applauding the singer for his win.
“Well done Chris Sebastian, an amazing artist in your own right,” one person wrote.
“He deserved it, and to all the people saying he only won because of his brother…. get a life he has an amazing voice,” another fan wrote.
While a third wrote: “Well done Chris you deserved to win.”
The final vote was exceptionally close, with less than 0.5 per cent separating first place and second place, according to Channel Nine.
For his solo show, Chris sang the Numb of Linkin Park and handed the win to his mentor Kelly Rowland. The song ‘Bed for 2’ from his winner’s is out now.
Prior to taking the crown, Chris had admitted that he was grappling with his own identity , especially in the shadow of his famous brother Guy.
