A Brisbane private college closed after cleaner returning from a hotspot tested positive for COVID-19.
On its website, Parklands Christian College in Park Ridge reported that it would be closed Wednesday, but did not provide any further information.
In a statement to Sunrise, a spokesman for Queensland Health said the woman, who is currently in solitary confinement, “tested positive late (Tuesday) after returning from interstate last week.”
“The school will temporarily close until further notification to allow for cleaning and work will commence on contact tracing.
“Queensland Health is working to determine where the virus may have been acquired, including working with the woman to gather necessary information about places she may have visited whilst infectious.”
“If you/your child or any family member is unwell, isolate immediately, and avoid contact with others.”
Over 650 students in Prep to Year 12 attend the College.
It is understood that a screening clinic will be set up from Wednesday afternoon at the Baskerville Sports Center at the University.
The latest case takes the overall Queensland COVID-19 to 1,077, with six active cases.
