On a two-party-preferred basis, Queensland’s Labor Party is leading the LNP 52 percent to 48 percent, a YouGov poll shows, as Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk seeks to secure a third term.
The results of the survey released in the Courier-Mail on Tuesday, the first formal day of campaigning ahead of the October 31 state election, are a reversal of how the parties stood when the last YouGov poll was carried out in June.
With 37 percent of the primary vote, the new survey has both Labor and the LNP, the Greens are on 12 percent, One Nation has nine percent, and Katter’s Australian Party is on two percent.
Labor’s primary vote rose from the 32% that it registered four months ago in the poll.
Ms Palaszczuk also registered an improvement in levels of personal popularity, with 57 percent of respondents saying they were pleased with the success of the Labor leader and just 27 percent disappointed, her best result since November 2015.
Between September 24 and October 1, the poll surveyed 2000 individuals in Queensland.
