A man who travelled 14 kilometres to play Pokemon Go was fined $1652 by Victoria Police for ignoring orders to stay at home.
Police announced on Monday that they had given 172 penalties to individuals across the state, of which 27 were for people who did not wear a face mask while they were in public.
Many of the COVID infringements remain at vehicle checkpoints or at short-term rentals for gatherings.
But some people still give odd reasons to police to stay away from home.
One man was fined $1652 for travelling to the Melbourne CBD from Sunshine to play the Pokemon Go cell phone game.
Another woman has been caught attempting to fly to Bendigo at Southern Cross Station.
Two men were also found at a fast food store in the Hobsons Bay area and told police that after spending the night they had driven from Altona.
Additionally, a group of people was fined after having spent a birthday at a Point Cook short-term rental.
Melbourne residents now have a curfew after the Victorian Premier proclaimed a State of Emergency and will be charged if they’re out between 8 pm and 5 am per day.
