A Victorian man who sexually abused a 13-year-old girl with more than 2500 obscene calls and texts bombarding her has been jailed.
At the girl’s school, Craig Beck organised meetings, bought her a telephone so that they could chat and took her to a sex logging plantation.
She informed him that she was only 13 years old and begged him to stop.
Beck, 36, was sentenced for two years in Victoria ‘s County Court on Thursday.
Before he can be eligible for release on parole, he must serve half the term.
In August 2019, Beck started sending sexual text messages to the girl, including asking her what bra and underwear she was wearing.
He bought a phone to her so she could contact him and send photographs of his genitals to her.
He even went during class breaks to the girl’s school and touched her indecently.
“You act like you’re 18 around me… I love that,” Beck said in one message.
Another read: “I want you so bad”.
Phone records revealed that between August and November last year, he spoke with her 2567 times.
Beck said that the girl was clingy when police asked questions and was the one who kept ringing and chasing him.
He subsequently pled guilty to a girl under the age of 16 being sexually abused and sexually penetrated. He also confessed to exchanging obscene messages with a child under 16 using a carriage service.
The girl told the court her relationships with family and friends had been wrecked by abuse, made it difficult to trust people, and left her anxious and depressed.
