South African anti-apartheid leader Nelson Mandela ‘s daughter had tested Covid-19 positively when she died, confirmed her mother.
Zindzi Mandela died Monday in Johannesburg at the age of 59. Her son, Zondwa Mandela, told South African Broadcasting Corporation on Thursday that his mom had contracted Covid-19 before she died.

“My mother did in fact test positive for Covid-19 on the day of her passing,” he said.
“Although this doesn’t, therefore, mean that she died of COVID-19 related complications, but simply that she tested positive for it.”
Zondwa added: “Several other tests have been done and those tests will give us further information as to what could have led to her untimely death.”
The Mandela Legacy Foundation, speaking on behalf of the family, said it would announce memorial and funeral arrangements for Zindzi in the course of this week.
Zindzi leaves four children and her husband.
