After their car struck an oncoming truck near Korumburra in regional Victoria on Friday afternoon, a woman and a young boy have died.
The driver, a woman in her thirties, and her passenger, known to be her young son, both died at the scene.
Victoria Police said a car was stationary and waiting to turn right at around 3.30 pm on the South Gippsland Highway when another vehicle struck it from behind.
The effect caused the car to cross over and collide with an oncoming cattle truck on the other side of the road.

A 59-year-old man from Bass, the driver of the second vehicle, is in custody and the truck driver is talking to the police.
While investigators from the Major Crash Investigation Unit examined the scene, the highway was closed.
