Man dies from COVID ‘complications’ as Victoria gives COVID update

Without a new case of coronavirus, Victoria has registered its 31st consecutive day but has had its first virus-related death in more than a month.

On Monday, the Department of Health and Human Services reported that in the last 24 hours of 5030 samples, there were no new infections.

“Sadly, we have to report today that a previously cleared COVID-19 case has died from complications relating to their original diagnosis,” the DHHS tweeted.

“The case was a woman in her 70s who was part of a small group of cases diagnosed in late July.

“She was cleared as an active case in late Sept. In line with the national case definition, this is a COVID-related death as no recovery occurred from time of infection. Our condolences.”
