“Idiot” Melbourne man has been fined 10 times since the pandemic started for violating COVID-19 limits, police have announced today.
The man from Whittlesea yesterday got his tenth violation from officers after being found in Richmond-about 50 km from his home address.
Police said the man claimed that he was in the region to visit colleagues at work but was unable to provide proper documentation as evidence.
Officers handed out 253 citations to individuals during the past 24 hours for violating laws, including 41 for not wearing a mask, 20 at vehicle checkpoints and 75 for violations of curfew.
Other fines included two people being found buying cigarettes after curfew in South Melbourne.
All people didn’t wear masks, with one saying he didn’t need to, because he has a “birth condition that makes him coronavirus resistant.”
