John Wick franchise fans had better buckle up, as a fifth film was reportedly green-lit.
Movie studio Lionsgate has officially confirmed that John Wick 5 is happening, and the fourth movie will be filmed back-to – back-when star Keanu Reeves gets time, of course.
John Feltheimer, CEO of the studio, said during an earnings call, via Deadline: “We’re also busy preparing scripts for the next two instalments of our John Wick action franchise, with John Wick 4 slated to hit theatres Memorial Day weekend 2022.
“We hope to shoot both John Wick 4 & 5 back to back when Keanu becomes available early next year.”
Keanu was busy shooting The Matrix 4 which casts doubt on whether he could film both projects in time for their planned release next year on the same weekend.
John Wick 4 was scheduled for release on May 27, 2021, while the Matrix saga ‘s fourth instalment was now pushed back to April 1, 2022.
Lionsgate claims that due to the coronavirus pandemic interrupting shooting and production plans the fourth Matrix movie had its date pushed back again.
