The following night, he was caught about 1.20am, allegedly driving a different scissor lift along Abbott Street.
It was allegedly stolen from another construction site on Shields Street.
When asked if he was drunk during one of the incidents, he replied,” No way, I’m sober as a judge.”
“I don’t know about that,” an arresting officer replied.
“I thought I’d seen pretty much everything.”
He also explained that the vehicle “was just on the street, ready to go” when asked why he had allegedly stolen it.
The man has been charged with two counts of unlawful use of a motor vehicle and drink driving.
He was also charged with obstructing police after allegedly holding onto the vehicle and refusing to exit when being arrested on Friday morning.
