Chris Evans, who plays the Marvel superhero, plans to give Bridger Walker an authentic Captain America shield which saved his four-year – old sister from a dog attack. Bridger suffered a serious facial injury that required a two-hour operation and 90 stitches.
Evans, 39, said in a video message to the young hero, “I’m sure you’ve heard this a lot over the last couple of days, but let me be the next one to tell you: Pal, you ‘re a hero. What you’ve done has been so courageous, so selfless, so grateful your sister has you as a big brother. Your parents deserve to be so proud of you.
“Keep being the man you are, we need people like you. Hang in there, I know recovery might be tough, but based on what I’ve seen, I don’t think there’s much that can slow you down.
I’m going to track down your address and I’m going to send you an authentic Captain America shield because pal, you deserve it.”
The video was posted on an Instagram page started by Nicole Noel Walker, an aunt of Bridger, who shared the heroic act of her nephew on social media. Walker recalled in her initial post how her nephew had rescued his younger sister from a “running bull” on July 9.

I’m not an Avenger, but I know a superhero when I see one. I can only hope I’m half as brave in my life as you are in yours, Bridger. Wishing you an easeful recovery, and many cool looking rocks. Hey @markruffalo, do you need a teammate?? Via @blackculturenews_ & @nicolenoelwalker
She wrote, “After getting bit several times on the face and head, he grabbed his sister’s hand and ran with her to keep her safe. He later said, ‘If someone had to die, I thought it should be me.’
“After receiving 90 stitches (give or take) from a skilled plastic surgeon, he’s finally resting at home. We love our brave boy and want all the other superheroes to know about this latest hero who joined their ranks.”
