Hardware retailer Bunnings is rewarding employees with up to $2000 in bonus payments in recognition of their hard work during the coronavirus crisis.
Full-time permanent employees at the shop will receive up to $1000, part-time staff and casuals will receive up to $ 500 depending on the hours worked in the previous six months, and staff at the retail support centre.
The COVID-19 incentive comes on top of an annual bonus payment of $1000 (pro-rated for part-timers and casuals) which includes a gift card of $250 and is subject to individual performance and health.
“We know that the past six months has been really challenging for all of our team in different ways, so on behalf of the Bunnings leadership team a huge thank you to you all for a truly incredible effort this year,” he said.
Several thousand employees of Bunnings signed a petition from the SDA requesting bonus payments.
Mr Schneider said in line with his success , the company had a long history of rewarding employees.
“This year our team has dealt with a number of challenges with the devastating effects of drought, bushfires and floods in Australia, and on both sides of the Tasman, we’ve dealt with the unprecedented challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic,” he said. “Our teams have worked incredibly hard to keep our stores open and safe for everyone.”
“We’re thanking our team for their truly incredible effort, and will reward them in the best way possible, and we wanted to do this as early as we could after the end of financial year.”
Bunnings employs 43,000 staff in Australia and 3000 in New Zealand.
