Bindi Irwin revealed that she was pregnant and announced on social media: “We couldn’t wait to share the news.”
“Chandler and I are proud to announce that we’re expecting!” Irwin told her followers on Instagram on Tuesday night.
“Though I’m still in my first trimester, we really want you to be part of our journey from the beginning of this new life chapter.”
“Your support means the world to us,” she said.
“Please let me know your best advice and send good vibes & prayers to our little sweetheart. Love & light.”
Ms Irwin’s announcement came on March 25 at Australia Zoo, less than five months after her marriage to long-time American boyfriend Chandler Powell.
Owing to the coronavirus pandemic, their wedding took place just hours ahead of a federal government deadline restricting numbers at public events.
She said at the time the constraints of the government meant that she needed to “change everything” and that at the wedding they had no guests.
Ms Irwin, the late ‘Crocodile Hunter’ Steve Irwin’s 22-year-old daughter, has asked her followers for pregnancy advice.
Six years ago Irwin was meeting her husband at the Australia Zoo.
Mr Powell, a former Florida wakeboarder, had said earlier that proposing marriage to Irwin, “in her favourite spot in the zoo, surrounded by animals, seemed like the best way to do it.”
