A former UFC fighter has blasted the programme as Melbourne works towards masks being mandatory this week.
A catastrophic second wave threatens to strike Melbourne on Sunday with prime minister Daniel Andrews reporting 363 new cases.
Andrews also announced during his press conference the wearing of face masks will become compulsory in the worst-hit areas of Victoria on Wednesday night from 11:59pm.
“If you are out of your home for one of the four permitted reasons, then you need to be wearing a mask and I stress – or a face covering,” Premier Daniel Andrews announced today.
“It need to stress it not be a hospital-grade mask, it not be one of the handmade masks like I was wearing when I came in today. It can be a scarf, it can be a homemade mask.”
Those found without a mask or face cover in Greater Melbourne or Mitchell Shire will get $200 fined.
But with one former MMA fighter who promised he would never wear a mask, news of the changes being made did not sit well.
“I will never bow to a dictatorship. I’m a proud Aussie. Born free. Will die free,” Vik Grujic tweeted.

To show just how serious he was in his fight against the government, Grujic tweeted at Daniel Andrews and tagged him in his message.
“I will not wear a mask. I will not pay a fine. I will not comply. I will not bow down to you.
Whatever you’re next set of demands are, I will not comply to either,” he tweeted.
“I’m a proud Australian. Born free. Nothing will take that away from me.
Fake plandemic is a hoax.
An attempt from the Marxist text book to destroy our way of life. @DanielAndrewsMP and the #MSM are working over time.
You will fail miserably and all be held accountable for these crimes against humanity. #resignDanAndrews #Communists
