After ‘absolutely crazy’ scenes were filmed outside a Melbourne primary, parents are encouraged to remain aware of social distancing guidelines.
The after-school pick-up on Monday afternoon was a packed affair at Cranbourne East Primary School, southeast of Melbourne.
Photographs posted on the Facebook page of the local community showed hundreds of parents gathered around the gates of the school.
Most, in line with coronavirus restrictions, seemed to wear a mask.
But few followed the conditions of social distancing.
“Absolutely crazy is all I can say,” a concerned parent wrote online.
“Please everyone this is just madness, this gathering at the school gate is worse than parents entering the school ground.”
The new regulations restricted to one the number of parents permitted to drop off or collect their children, the amount of time they are allowed to stay on school grounds.
On school premises, parents are often asked not to stay or socialise.
