Victoria is expected to announce 650 new cases of coronavirus later today, as the state appears to be moving for an unprecedented shutdown of stage 4.
Premier Daniel Andrews will announce the 650 cases and more than a dozen deaths at a media conference expected to take place later today.
The 650 new infections, down from Friday’s 723, will be the second worst day of COVID-19 cases for Victoria.
Mr Andrews will also reveal feared stage-four lockout restrictions for Melbourne will come into force in the days ahead. It comes as government officials and health authorities worked to determine the next stage of Victoria ‘s battle against COVID-19 late into the night.
While there is no definition of what stage four limitations would look like, more companies are likely to be forced to close their doors, public transit programmes will be reduced, and Melburnians will face more restrictive home-stay orders.
