During the last 24 hours, Victoria Police issued 124 fines for coronavirus breaches across the state, including 53 people who refused to wear a mask in public.
Of those 53, according to police, many were issued to individuals who had no reason to give for not wearing a mask and refused to accept a mask offered by police or Protective Services Officers.
Others who had been fined included a group of people caught by police gathering around a fire at a Frankston property in the south of Melbourne.
As police arrived, twelve people were at the house, and all were charged.
A group of five men found drinking alcohol at a reserve in Casey have also been fined in a separate incident.
Three men who had driven from Clayton to Melbourne’s CBD and had lunch together in a public place were also given fines.
Yesterday, more than 20,000 vehicles were stopped and checked across the main arterial roads around Melbourne, with six fines problems at checkpoints to rule-breakers.
A further 5068 spot checks were also carried out by police on people in homes , businesses and in public places across the State.
