After a building collapsed yesterday afternoon on a construction site at the Curtin University campus, a 23-year-old apprentice is dead.

St John’s ambulance reported that two other men had been brought with various injuries to Royal Perth Hospital.

One man is going to undergo surgery today, aged in his late 20s. He’s in a critical state.

The other is in a state that is stable.

Mick Buchan, CFMEU State Secretary, reported that the man who died was in his early 20s.

“We are not going to leave any rock unturned to get to the outcome of what has happened,” he said.

“It’s 2020, these events should not occur in the building and construction industry. Another young worker has lost his life here today.”

Four WorkSafe WA investigators are on the scene looking at the incident, a spokesperson reported.
