If you need more persuasive dogs to be the best, this report will prove that to you.
Maureen is 85 years old and, thanks to the courageous and heroic work of little dog Charlie, she is now in the safe hands of the medical team at the Port Macquarie Base Hospital.
The valiant canine is being hailed as a hero, having stuck by Maureen ‘s side trying to keep her warm as she laid in pain for 14 hours after the fall.
Maureen broke her hip when she dropped in her garden, but her pleas for support went unheard.
Charlie realised that Maureen was in agony, and before he could call for assistance, he sat down with her all night, even lying on top of her to make sure she was warm.
A hospital spokeswoman said Charlie saw a vehicle coming up the street the next morning and quickly rushed out to warn the residents who had returned to their home across the street.
The 10-year-old pooch barked continuously and dashed back to his property before someone took care of it.
It wasn’t long before neighbour Des noticed that Charlie was trying to tell him something.
The neighbours tracked the dog back to his yard and discovered a very cold and sore Maureen on the grass.
They quickly called for an ambulance, and Maureen is currently in hospital for a gradual recovery.
Clutching Charlie’s portrait and thanking his valiant deeds, Maureen says that she owes her life to her little companion.
“Charlie is very caring. After Maureen lost her husband whenever she got a bit teary Charlie would come and sit beside her,” the hospital spokesperson said.
