After being abandoned at an airport for months, a BMW has attracted worldwide attention with its number plate COVID19.
Staff at Adelaide Airport were confused at the reason the 5 Series sedan had been sitting in the carpark since February.
Yet it seems the mystery has now been solved, with an airport spokesperson claiming the driver was contacted after yesterday’s car made headlines.
The proprietor is continental.
Steven Spry, an airport worker said the car had been left there since the lockdowns began.
In April, the car had a mask over it that was ripped off, exposing its distinctive number plate.
“You’d think a family member would have gone to get it,” Mr Spry told the ABC.
Mr Spry said he had been getting calls from around the world after posting pictures of the vehicle.
Another man from Adelaide also came up with pictures after seeing Mr Spry’s, posting a Snapchat video he took from the car late March.
“It obviously stood out straight away … I took a Snapchat video of it and never thought of it again,” Dan Parfitt also told the ABC.
“It was pretty early in the proceedings before it really kicked off here.”
